On February 8, 2009 Robyn Rihanna Fenty was allegedly battered by her boyfriend Chris Brwon. Although Brown has been charged with two felonies for allegedly attacking Rihanna, rumors continue to swirl that the couple are back together. Reports also indicate the two are recording a song together about love and that they may co-author a book about domestic violence.
The pair have reunited almost three weeks after Brown, 19, allegedly battered the "Umbrella" singer. "They're together again. They care for each other," says the source. The on-again couple are currently spending time together at one of Sean "Diddy" Combs's homes, on Miami Beach's Star Island. In its latest issue, PEOPLE reports that Brown called Rihanna on her 21st birthday one week ago. "He called to wish her happy birthday," a source told the magazine. "They've reached out to each other. It's been mutual." Brown was booked by LAPD for making criminal threats but the case has not yet been presented to the District Attorney, who will ultimately determine which charges, if any, will be prosecuted.
Many people think Rihanna is making a big mistake by going back to Chris. Oprah Winfrey warned Rihanna and women everywhere Thursday that if a man hits you once, he'll hit you again."I've said before love doesn't hurt, and if a man hits you once, he will hit you again," Winfrey said during a show about domestic violence. The show aired live from Chicago with guest Tyra Banks comes after last month's domestic incident between singers Rihanna and Chris Brown. "It's o sad that even when you grow up in an environment and you disdain that environment, you really cannot help yourself until someone helps you," Winfrey said.Tyra Banks, who's interviewed both Brown and Rihanna separately on her show, said both singers have told her about their previous bouts with domestic abuse. "Rihanna told me that her parents used to argue so intensely and she used to get these headaches, almost migraines…and it was almost living hell for her," Banks said. "The moment her parents separated, the headaches went away." Will Rihanna headaches come back?Banks also said Brown witnessed domestic violence in home with a man his mother was with. That scarred him so much she said that Brown used to pee in his bed."When you grew up in an environment where there is abuse, it's more acceptable to you," Winfrey said. "If you go back with a man who hits you it's because you don't think you're worthy of being with a man who won't." A massage to Rihanna and to all the women in the world that continue to stay with their partner who domestic abuse them, you are worthy of being with a man who won’t. You are worthy of being loved.
