Edited story
On February 20, 2009 Eastview High school hosted a sing-a-ton entitled "Voices of Hope. This event was created and organized by the Women's Chorale of Eastview High School under the direction of Judy Sagen. They partnered with the Angel Foundation to raise awareness as well as money for families that have been affected by cancer. The Angel Foundation was founded in 2001 as a Minnesota-based non-profit charitable organization dedicated to improving the quality of life throughout the cancer experience. The Angel Foundation also gives people comfort and support to keep them strong in their time of need. Eastview High school was able to raise a total of 25,000 dollars.Brooke Kilgarriff, Miss Twin Cities and former Eastview student, was the announcer for this event. The sing-a-ton started at 8am and went till midnight. “They brought the community together to support a worthy cause.” Says Kelly when asked what did she thought of the event. And continues to say “this is one of the coolest thing Eastview has ever done.”The performances included solo acts, duets, trios, choral performances, and bands. Faculty members Greg Douma and Kelly Sundin from the choral department and Mike Tomlinson from the mathematics department, as well as the ladies from the attendance and guidance offices along with the principal, Dr. Randly Peterson, performed on the stage in contribute to the cause. The World Language Department sang and danced in a variety of songs in Spanish and Japanese. Most of the students that performed were in the second level of the language they performed in. About 90% of the performers held a cheat sheet so they do not forget the words to the song. To also help them remember the song was playing in the background. Eastview High school did a fantastic job of hosting an unforgettable event
