On February 20, 2009 Eastview High school hosted a sing-a-ton entitled "Voices of Hope. This event was created and organized by the Women's Chorale of Eastview High School under the direction of Judy Sagen. They partnered with the Angel Foundation to raise awareness as well as money for families that have been affected by cancer. The Angel Foundation was founded in 2001 as a Minnesota-based non-profit charitable organization dedicated to improving the quality of life throughout the cancer experience. The Angel Foundation also gives people comfort and support to keep them strong in their time of need. Eastview High school was able to raise a total of 25,000 dollars.
Brooke Kilgarriff, Miss Twin Cities and former Eastview student, was the mc for this event that was held in the Eastview High School Performing Arts Center. The sing-a-ton started at 8am and went till noon. “They brought the community together to support a worthy cause.” Says Kelly when asked what did she thought of the event. And continues to say “this is one of the coolest thing Eastview has ever done.”
The performances included solo acts, duets, trios, choral performances, and bands. Faculty members Greg Douma and Kelly Sundin from the choral department and Mike Tomlinson from the mathematics department, as well as the ladies from the attendance and guidance offices along with the principal, Dr. Randly Peterson, performed on the stage in contribute to the cause. The World Language Department sang and danced in a variety of songs in Spanish and Japanese.
Eastview High school did a fantastic job of hosting an unforgettable event.
